About Daniel Shorb
Bio of Daniel Shorb
Known among his friends as a master musician, Dan is a teacher, concert pianist, choral director and accompanist, composer, and clinician. He is retired from 43 years of service in church music, serving as director of music, organist, and pianist for several churches in Tennessee, Florida, and South Carolina. Also included in his resumé are 21 years teaching college music.
An advocate for handbells and handchimes, Daniel has built graded handbell programs, directed several handbell choirs, and served a term as Florida Chair of Handbell Musicians of America. He is a past president of the Florida United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts.
Daniel earned the BA degree at Temple University, and the MA at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He loves to teach music, play piano for special occasions, and write music. Dan and his wife, Libby, have been married 51 years, and have made their retirement home in Ocala, Florida. They have three sons and six grandchildren.
